With my husband and I both working long hours, coupled with the difficulties of being an expectant mother, we made the decision to hire a cleaning service. Little did I know that this experience would leave a lasting impression on me.
The woman sent by the cleaning service arrived wearing a tank top and incredibly short shorts, which was rather unexpected, given the hot summer weather. To my surprise, she brought along her own cleaning towels, which turned out to be nothing more than "her husband's old t-shirts." I was taken aback by the lack of professionalism and standards displayed by the cleaning service. Not only did I have to provide all the cleaning products, but I also found myself having to train the cleaner on how to use them effectively. It was truly an unforgettable encounter, and I continued to utilize their services until my son was born.
However, just six weeks after giving birth, I returned to work, facing long hours that stretched from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm. In addition to my professional responsibilities, I still aspired to maintain a meticulously clean home. Unfortunately, this meant sacrificing precious time with my baby. I spent my weekends tirelessly washing floors, scrubbing bathrooms, and tidying the kitchen, all while my son sat in his playpen nearby. It pained me deeply to realize that I had so little time to bond with him.
Then came the fateful day of September 11, which marked the end of my tenure at the law firm as I was laid off. It was at that moment that the idea for Helping Hands was born. I made a promise to myself: I would establish a cleaning company that not only delivered exceptional cleaning services but also offered busy families, like mine, the gift of free time and peace of mind. Equally important to me was providing employment opportunities to immigrants, just like myself, who were searching for a better life.
